Health and Social Care Group meetings 2026

January 12th 2026: The group met to review offers of work they had received from council and NHS officers looking for support with different projects. They also planned their next Jargon Busters project.

January 26th 2026: Officers from DPT were going to come back to the group to give them an update on the Clinical Strategy they helped to develop.
This has been postponed until the autumn so the group can have a fuller update.

February 2nd 2026: A Disability Lead is coming to the group to learn more about the work they have been doing on getting reasonable adjustments for parents with learning disabilities.

March 2nd 2026: The group met with a Community Transport Adviser to discuss helping her record a script for a film on how to apply for a concessionary bus pass.

April 13th 2026: The group recorded a script for an accessible film that explains how to apply for a concessionary bus pass. They also prepared for next week’s Jargon Buster session.

May 11th 2026: A council Senior Commissioning Officer will come to the group to talk about ‘Bridgit’. ‘Bridgit’ is an online support service for carers to get information and advice on. The group will explore how accessible the online advice is for carers with learning disabilities and those who don’t have English as their first language.

June 8th 2026: An officer from the council’s Highway Operation Team is coming to the group to explore accessible bus travel. He would like to know what would make it easier for wheelchair users and people with mobility issues or sensory disabilities to travel by bus. He is running a bus service improvement project.

June 29th 2026: A Care Direct Plus Manager is coming to the group to share a new leaflet that talks about the Client Financial Services Team and financial assessments.
