Christmas safety tips

  • Do not carry too much cash on you when Christmas shopping. Only take out the amount you think you will need.
  • Always cover your pin number when taking money out of a cash machine or paying for things in shops.
  • Make sure you always know where your purse, wallet or bags are when Christmas shopping.
  • Do not put your Christmas presents near a window where other people could see them.
  • Know how much you can drink when out celebrating at Christmas or New Year as being tipsy or drunk can make you vulnerable.
  • Do not put lit candles near your Christmas tree, cards, decorations or curtains. Make sure you always blow candles out before leaving the house or going to bed.
  • Do not overload plug sockets. The rule is one plug for one socket. You must never plug an extension lead into another extension lead.
